What a Data Source Means in Skoot
A data source is a live connection between Skoot and one of your databases or warehouses.
Once connected, Skoot can:
- Read schema metadata (databases, schemas, tables, columns)
- Run queries for analysis
- Use that structure in agent context and follow-up reasoning
What You Need to Connect
- Access to the Skoot app. Sign up
- Source credentials for one supported system
- Read access to the tables your team needs for analysis
- Any required networking setup (for example, IP whitelisting if your warehouse requires it)

Connection Lifecycle in Skoot
- Open Data Sources and add a new connection.
- Confirm status is healthy (
Connected). - Let schema metadata sync in the background (automatic daily refresh).
- Request an on-demand refresh when you need metadata updates immediately.
Safety and Control
- Use a dedicated read-only user for each data source.
- Give that user access only to the databases, schemas, and tables you actually need.
