Data Sources Overview

Skoot connects to your existing analytics data sources so you can answer business questions with live data access, fast.

What a Data Source Means in Skoot

A data source is a live connection between Skoot and one of your databases or warehouses.

Once connected, Skoot can:

  • Read schema metadata (databases, schemas, tables, columns)
  • Run queries for analysis
  • Use that structure in agent context and follow-up reasoning

See Supported Data Sources.

What You Need to Connect

  • Access to the Skoot app. Sign up
  • Source credentials for one supported system
  • Read access to the tables your team needs for analysis
  • Any required networking setup (for example, IP whitelisting if your warehouse requires it)

For source-specific requirements, use the data source setup pages below.

Connection Lifecycle in Skoot

  1. Open Data Sources  and add a new connection.
  2. Confirm status is healthy (Connected).
  3. Let schema metadata sync in the background (automatic daily refresh).
  4. Request an on-demand refresh when you need metadata updates immediately.

Safety and Control

  • Use a dedicated read-only user for each data source.
  • Give that user access only to the databases, schemas, and tables you actually need.
